Founded in 1969, the Murwillumbah Pistol Club Inc. has been a place where members from 12 to 80 plus years of age can come and enjoy target pistol shooting, in a safe, encouraging and friendly environment.Members can take the sport to whatever level they wish, from a social level to a serious competitive level required for the Commonwealth or Olympic Games.Whatever level you are interested in achieving, we have friendly experienced members who can assist.If you’re interested in trying your hand at pistol shooting or would simply like to have a look at the sport we would love to hear from you. Patti Dench was the first Australian winner of an Olympic medal in pistol shooting. Patti shot a 583 in the 25m Pistol (Sports Pistol) event at the Los Angeles games in 1984. Patti was 52 years of age, the oldest medallist of all the competitors at that Games.
NB:Donald MacKintosh was awarded a Gold medal in Paris 1900, but was at the time clasified as an archery event It took 90 years to be recognised as a shooting event.
Between 1996 and 2008 Australia collected bronze medals at every Olympics.

Tracy Barrel is a 2 time medalist at the Barcelona Olmpics for swimming & has recently joined The Murwillumbah Pistol Club with eye to expand her medal count with her newly chosen sport.
